Young Friends Programme (YFP)

Young Friends Program (YFP) – Webuye Church

The Young Friends Program (YFP) at Webuye Monthly Meeting is a dynamic community of young Quakers aged 15 to 35 years. As a group, we are at different stages in our Christian journeys, but we come together for fellowship, spiritual rejuvenation, and to deepen our connection with one another and with the Spirit of Christ. Through engaging activities, mentorship, and service, the Young Friends Program fosters spiritual growth, leadership, and a vibrant sense of community.

Mission of the Young Friends Program (YFP)

The mission of YFP is to nurture the spiritual vitality and involvement of young members within Webuye Friends Church. Through targeted programs and activities, we aim to:

  • Strengthen the commitment and participation of young people in church affairs.
  • Provide opportunities for spiritual fellowship, personal growth, and Christian learning.
  • Equip Young Friends to be active leaders within the church and community, contributing meaningfully to its future.

Core Activities of YFP

  1. Spiritual Fellowship and Growth
At the heart of YFP is a commitment to spiritual fellowship. We gather regularly for Bible study, worship, and prayer meetings designed specifically for young people. These gatherings offer a safe and supportive environment to explore faith, share experiences, and grow deeper in our walk with Christ. Our community fosters strong relationships, ensuring that every Young Friend feels valued and connected, both to one another and to God.
  2. Youth Leadership and Church Involvement
YFP plays a vital role in empowering young people to take leadership positions within the church. By participating in various church committees and outreach initiatives, we ensure that the voices and ideas of Young Friends are heard and valued. This involvement nurtures a sense of responsibility, leadership skills, and a lifelong commitment to the Quaker tradition.
  3. Christian Learning and Mentorship
YFP places a strong emphasis on Christian education and personal growth. Through interactive discussions, mentorship programs, and guest speakers, we explore relevant topics such as Christian living, decision-making, relationships, and personal development. More experienced members of the church provide guidance, offering spiritual mentorship and life skills to help Young Friends navigate their faith and daily life.
  4. Community Service and Outreach
Service is a core value of YFP, and we actively engage in community outreach to reflect the love and teachings of Christ. Our projects range from organizing charity events, environmental clean-ups, and supporting income-generating activities that benefit the underprivileged. These initiatives help us connect our faith with action, embodying the Quaker testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, and equality.
  5. Fellowship Retreats and Social Activities
To deepen our connections with one another and renew our spirits, YFP organizes regular retreats and social gatherings. These events provide a break from everyday pressures and offer time for personal reflection, prayer, and bonding. Through these retreats, we aim to strengthen both our faith and friendships, creating a supportive network of young believers who journey together in Christ.

Mentorship and Vision for the Future

A key aspect of the Young Friends Program is mentoring the next generation of church leaders. By offering vision, guidance, and active mentorship, we ensure that Young Friends are well-equipped to take on future responsibilities within the church. Our goal is to cultivate young men and women who are spiritually grounded, socially conscious, and ready to lead both within the Friends Church and in the broader community.

The Young Friends Program (YFP) is a space where young people can grow in faith, build lasting relationships, and actively participate in the life of the church. Whether through prayer, service, learning, or leadership, YFP empowers the youth of Webuye Friends Church to become the future pillars of the Quaker faith, rooted in Christ and driven by a desire to serve. Join us as we journey together toward a deeper understanding of God’s purpose for our lives.
